The Volvo Ocean Race is one of the most demanding sports competitions: the crew of several boats are sailing for nine months under extreme conditions, they will touch 11 ports and their work will be followed, via internet by millions of people in two hundred countries. It is an extreme adventure that requires organization and advanced logistics, excellent nautical technology and above all passion for sail!

The teams. The Edition in 2014-2015 involved seven teams, one of them all-female crew, they compete for the first time with veterans of other editions. Till now it is confirmed the presence of groups: Team Vestas Wind, Team SCA, Abu Dhabi Ocean Racing, Dongfeng Race Team, Team Brunel, Team Alvimedica and a Spanish team. All will test their professional experience, capacity of survival and comradeship!

Tracking race: Sailors will sail around the world but they won’t be alone: The fleet will be monitored 24 hours a day from a control room inspired by the Nasa. . The boat. To cover 38.739 nautical miles a special boat needed: the V065 One Design is a official boat of the Volvo Ocean Race. It has a pivoting keel, 65 feets (19,8 meters) of length, 7 sails and it is a unique design for all teams. It has special video cameras and multiple innovations to achieve maximum speed and withstand adverse sea conditions.

How to participate? There are several ways to follow the Volvo Ocean Race:

– You can rent a sailboat in Alicante and to be present by the start of the first leg from the sea.

– Organise a corporate event or a nautical activity regards to the race, or you can rent aluxury yacht or rent a catamaran. On board, the guests will be witnesses of the competition in first line.

– If what you want is to cover the event taking pictures and videos you can rent a speed boat, which permit you moving faster and getting closer to the teams.

– If you want to stay all week to follow every moment of the start of leg 1 heading to Cape Town, booking your holiday accommodation through a Sail & Stay (boat rental and accommodation) in any nearby town: Mutxamiel, El Campello, La Marina or Santa Pola. Alicante will be the sailing centre of the world for 8 days!
